”What do you clean bullet proof glass with?”September 22, 2022
If you have a batch of ammo that is hang firing, I would not shoot any more of it. After my experience of shooting thousands of different rounds more than 50 years old, I would advise you not to “dispose” of any old ammo. As long as it has been kept dry and isn’t corroded, it will probably fire.
- What parts of an AR-15 should I lubricate? Bolt, cam pin, firing pin retaining pin: Generously lubricate the outside surfaces of the bolt, cam pin, firing pin retaining pin, and the bolt or “gas” rings. Firing pin: Lightly lubricate the firing pin and firing pin recess within the bolt.
- Does 1911 require a lot of maintenance? In addition to regular cleaning, after every 1,000 rounds, I like to remove the firing-pin stop and take out the firing pin and extractor. They need a good cleaning, too.
- What is clean ammo? Super Clean ammo utilizes a zinc-core bullet with a copper jacket that performs similar to standard duty ammo. Lead-free, heavy-metal-free primers add to the non-toxic performance of Winchester Super Clean Handgun Ammo to give you ammunition that's safe to use at indoor ranges as well as outdoors.
- Will a gun fire in space? Fires can't burn in the oxygen-free vacuum of space, but guns can shoot. Modern ammunition contains its own oxidizer, a chemical that will trigger the explosion of gunpowder, and thus the firing of a bullet, wherever you are in the universe. No atmospheric oxygen required.
- Where do you lubricate an AR-15? Place one drop of oil inside the key.
- Is corroded ammo safe to shoot? But before shooting any ammo that has been stored for years, check each round in a box carefully. If the cases and bullets are clean, smooth, and not corroded, the rounds should shoot fine. Keep in mind the warning signs of unusable and potentially unsafe cartridges: Split case necks.
